The Rise of Luosifen: From Street Food to National Sensation

Luosifen, a rice noodle dish created in the 1970s, gets its name from the river snail-based broth. Although it appeared fairly recently, Luosifen has quickly become the most popular type of rice noodles in China. This is thanks to government support, a strong supply chain, and its growing fame online.

In 2020, Liuzhou Luosifen sales reached ¥10.5 billion, with 1.1 billion bags of packaged products sold online—21 times more than five years earlier. That same year, it was added to China’s national intangible cultural heritage list.

By 2021, sales of packaged Luosifen grew to ¥15.197 billion, a 38.23% increase. Sales at physical stores nationwide hit ¥20.68 billion, up 75.25%.

In 2022, sales reached ¥18.2 billion (+19.6%), and the entire Luosifen industry chain was worth ¥60.07 billion (+19.8%).

This online popularity has turned into real growth. Many new brands have joined the market, including Luoxiangxiang Luosifen, which opened over 50 new stores in just two months.

Rapid Expansion: 50+ New Stores in 2 Months

Recently, Luoxiangxiang expanded quickly with over 50 new locations.

Earlier this year, the brand opened flagship stores in Chengdu, including one at Caojiaxiang in January and another at MixC in March. In April, two more stores opened in Wu Hou and Cheng Hua. By June, stores appeared in Mianyang, Sichuan, followed by Yibin and Jilin in July. In August, new stores opened in Henan, Guizhou, and Yunnan.

In just two months, Luoxiangxiang successfully launched more than 50 franchise locations.

Unique Flavor That Keeps Customers Coming Back

Luosifen stands out for its strong-smelling bamboo shoots, spicy oil, and rich toppings. It’s much more than instant noodles—it offers a unique taste that people come back for again and again.

While other noodles can be replaced, Luosifen cannot.

Luoxiangxiang started with packaged products but is now growing fast in physical stores. This success comes from years of experience in the food industry.

The parent company, Guangxi Luoxiangxiang Catering Management, focuses on seasoning development, production, sales, and food brand growth. The team has over 10 years of experience in hotpot, skewers, rice noodles, and more.

Due to its quality, Luoxiangxiang has won several awards, including "2022 Outstanding Enterprise" and "Most Loved Brand" at the Shanghai Food Franchise Expo.

Local Supply Chain Supports Quality and Growth

To keep the authentic Liuzhou taste, Luoxiangxiang built its own supply chain. They work with local producers of bamboo shoots, beans, snails, tofu skin, radish, and rice noodles.

For example, the broth is made from 30斤 of river snails and pork bones, boiled for 4-5 hours. Three batches are made daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Each bowl uses over 20 natural spices. The spice mix includes Guizhou “bullet head” chili, erjingtiao pepper, and Indian devil pepper for extra heat.

All ingredients are delivered to each store. Staff can prepare dishes quickly with consistent flavor, which also helps reduce costs.

Strong Growth Despite Challenges

Even after the pandemic, Luoxiangxiang continues to grow quickly. The brand plans to keep improving, focusing on good ingredients and broth. They aim to become a leading Luosifen brand within five years.
